Cytarabine Injection

Class II — Moderate risk. May cause temporary or reversible harm; serious harm unlikely.

Why it was recalled

The affected lots of Carboplatin Injection, Cytarabine Injection, Methotrexate Injection, USP, and Paclitaxel Injection are being recalled due to visible particles embedded in the glass located at the neck of the vial. There may be the potential for product to come into contact with the embedded particles and the particles may become dislodged into the solution.

Cause type: Particulate / foreign matter

Visible foreign particles - glass, metal, fibers or other material - found in the product. Particles can enter from equipment wear, containers or the process, and are dangerous in injectables. All particulate / foreign matter recalls.

Check, then ask. Class II means harm is possible but usually temporary or reversible. Find the lot number on your package; if it matches, ask your pharmacist about a replacement. Do not simply stop a prescribed medication on your own - the gap can be riskier than the recall. This recall is now terminated, which means the firm has finished removing the affected product; anything on pharmacy shelves today should be unaffected.
